Luton Town are now on the back foot in their pursuit of Ali Al Hamadi this summer as a new club have entered the race to sign the Iraqi international.
Reports from TWTD earlier this week have stated that The Hatters are interested in the 23-year-old and reuniting boss Matt Bloomfield with the striker after their joint stint at Wycombe Wanderers. Al Hamadi spent the second half of last season on loan at Stoke City, playing 15 times and scoring twice.
Luton Face Daunting Task
TWTD’s report stated that Ipswich would only consider a move should they recruit new forwards this summer following the sale of Liam Delap, which have so far proved fruitless after missing out on target Patrick Agyemang with Derby County winning the race for the American. However, a new update from EFL Analysis have delivered a double blow for Town’s chances of signing the former AFC Wimbledon man.
In conjunction with Graeme Bailey, it states that Al-Hamadi will not be willing to drop out of the Championship for game time this season, and more crucially that Bristol City are now showing interest. The Robins, under new boss Gerhard Struber, are in the market for a new forward after the release of Nakhi Wells after his contract expired, and Luton themselves recruited the Bermudan international.
City have signed Emil Riis from Preston North End and with Al Hamadi looking like he will be on the peripheries under Kieran McKenna next season, Ashton Gate offers a new destination for the Iraqi international.

Writers’ View
Ali Al Hamadi is not going to be a key figure for Ipswich Town should they recruit a new forward so a move away is necessary to secure regular game time. If this new report is to be believed, then Luton Town are in a real tough spot to sign the 23-year-old as a Carlton Morris replacement. However, for Bristol City, they will now feel confident they can get a deal done once The Tractor Boys secure a new forward option alongside George Hirst.
