Hull City Target Double Player Swoop

Hull City may hold an advantage in the race to sign Louie Barry as Aston Villa look to sell their promising forward, and could recruit a second striker alongside the 22-year-old.

Barry was loaned to Hull in the winter transfer window after an outstanding spell at Stockport County, but his move to East Yorkshire stalled after a severe knee injury curtailed his season after just four matches.

City In Pole Position

In a report from Hull Live, The Tigers could have an advantage over other competitors in the race for Barry due to their relationship with Aston Villa from the original loan move. A move for the former Barcelona youth winger could move quickly as concerns have arose around the Birmingham club’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), which they could break if they do not sell assets.

It is believed that the two clubs are actively involved in negotiations as Villa’s PSR deadline is on Monday, and either a permanent signing or a loan move is being considered by Hull. He is not the only player being auctioned off by Unai Emery’s side, with the Middlesbrough-linked Kaine Kesler-Hayden also expected to depart before the start of next week.

McBurnie Still Being Considered

The same report also provides an update on Hull’s reported interest in Oli McBurnie, who is expected to be making a decision on his future by next week. With Joao Pedro being released from his contract in East Yorkshire, new boss Sergej Jakirovic is in need of a new number nine.

With his contract expiring in the next few days, McBurnie is available on a free transfer and multiple clubs, including former side Sheffield United are believed to be pursuing the Scottish forward.

Writers’ View

Hull City have had a lot of faith in Louie Barry and after a loan spell cut short by injury they are still wanting him to return to the club. With Villa now under financial stress, players need to be offloaded and Unai Emery’s side look well-stocked in wide positions with Morgan Rogers and Jacob Ramsey being regulars. The main concern is how Barry will fare in the Championship after setting alight League One and Two with Stockport County.
