Our Three Predictions For Birmingham City vs Mansfield Town

        • Prediction 1 – Alfie May To Score – 103/100
        • Prediction 2 –  Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 8/11
        • Prediction 3 – Birmingham City To Win – 11/25

First Prediction For Birmingham City vs Mansfield Town – Alfie May To Score – 103/100

Their title win has allowed for Birmingham City to be more flexible in who they choose to start and it was Alfie May who started in the club’s win over Stevenage in midweek. Whilst he did struggle to find many opportunities following an early miss, last season’s third-tier top scorer is always a prominent threat. Jay Stansfield and Lukas Jutkiewicz were brought on in the latter stages of that game, so whilst the former Charlton Athletic man’s place in not guaranteed in this game, he would be a likely substitution if not given his third start in five matches by Chris Davies. May is the club’s leading goal and assist contributor, with 23 in League One this season.

Second Prediction For Birmingham City vs Mansfield Town – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 8/11

Whilst Birmingham have been quieter on the goal front, this game could be a day where they can rediscover the form that has them leading the goal charts in the third tier. The Blues’ output has slowed with four goals in five matches, failing to score in a drab draw against Crawley Town and at Wembley in the EFL Trophy final against Peterborough United. But their opponents in Mansfield Town have been extremely leaky. No team has conceded more goals in their last five across the whole 92 than The Stags with 15. Three of those games ended with three or more goals conceded, and their last game against Reading was the worst yet with five conceded. Nigel Clough held no punches back when discussing the errors that led to The Royals running riot, so there could be a few changes on the cards in defence, even with the injuries they face.

Third Prediction For Birmingham City vs Mansfield Town – Birmingham City To Win – 11/25

The Blues’ have achieved a centurions season and will lift the title at the end of this game, so Chris Davies will task his side to give the fans at St. Andrews a good show before they can pop open the champagne. Mansfield’s struggles in defence have been troublesome and with Alfie May and Jay Stansfield both available tomorrow, this should be a fairly straightforward result. Town do have some motivation in this game with safety still not secured, but they may not be able to handle what is one of the best sides the third tier has seen since Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2013/14.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Birmingham City have little else to play for after winning the League One title in style and breaking the 100-point barrier with a win against Stevenage on Thursday night. But they can break Kenny Jackett and his Wolverhampton Wanderers’ record point total of 103 with a win over Mansfield, likely cementing them as the greatest team ever to play in the third tier even if detractors point at the money they spent this season. Over their last five matches, they have won three, drawn once and lost to Peterborough United in the EFL Trophy, marking just their third loss of 2025, after defeats to Newcastle United in the FA Cup and Bolton Wanderers in the league.

Mansfield Town are still in the relegation conversation, but can effectively seal safety with just one point. They crucially have a game in hand on the four teams in the drop zone when they face Peterborough United on Wednesday night. Their final day game comes at home to Exeter City. The Stags have had a dire time as of late, with just one point across their last five matches, and have conceded an EFL-high 15 goals across that spell. Their worst day yet came away at Reading, letting in five, many from their own mistakes as was appraised by manager Nigel Clough. They drew against Rotherham United but also faced defeat to Huddersfield Town, Leyton Orient and Charlton Athletic.

The reverse fixture was the first time since 1991 that these two sides have played each other, and across the nine fixtures played, the scores are even at three wins, draws and losses apiece. The points were shared at Field Mill in October, with a Lee Gregory second-half goal cancelling out Willum Willumsson’s effort ten minutes into the game.
