Shrewsbury, Gillingham and Crawley: The Good, Bad and Ugly Of Manager Changes

We’ve got a cracking Real EFL YouTube Show for you this week, as we’re talking about managerial appointments as always.

Gary and Kyle are here to cover the good (Scott Lindsey), the bad (Michael Appleton, some say. Not Gary), and the ugly (Gareth Ainsworth, a good-looking man it ought to be added). How do each fit their new teams, or how don’t they fit?

Of course, it wouldn’t be a preview show without a couple of previews.

We’re previewing three games for you this week, starting with Bristol City and Burnley. The Clarets have finally started scoring plenty, making them an even stronger force alongside their incredible defence. This shift could give them the edge over Sheffield United. Only goal difference separates Bristol City from the Play-Off places, suggesting that this could finally be the year they reach the Premier League.

In League One we’re focusing on another promotion hopeful, Reading, as they host Peterborough United, themselves aiming to finish the season with silverware. The off-field attention has been on Reading all week, but on the pitch, the Royals remarkably still have a shot at the Play-Offs. Overcoming all the odds and securing a top-six finish is still within their grasp. Peterborough have ended fears of relegation this season, recording their finest win to date last weekend. With a cup final still to play, Posh can now look forward to enjoying the end of their campaign.

Walsall have stuttered as late, and the Wombles of Wimbledon will be hoping to clean up at the Bescot this weekend and boost their own promotion hopes. The Saddlers are somehow still top of the division but now face three gruelling fixtures. Successfully navigating this mini-test could see them go on to win League Two. Wimbledon, meanwhile, remain in third spot after a favourable midweek result from Barrow. That boost might just give them the lift they need to secure automatic promotion.

All this and more, in today’s show below.
