Leeds United Midfielder Linked With International Move

Leeds United‘s Jack Harrison could end up moving abroad in the summer after reports linked him to the MLS.

The Whites winger has been on loan at Premier League side Everton for two seasons after their relegation to the Championship, but the former Middlesbrough man has failed to impress at Goodison Park.

American Dream Returns

Harrison’s career started in the United States with New York City FC, where he was swiftly scooped up by fellow City Group side Manchester City following his breakout season. After a failed loan to Middlesbrough, Leeds swept in and took the Stoke-born player to Elland Road, being a key figure in Marcelo Bielsa’s sides that gained promotion back to the Premier League.

After he signed a new five-year deal to stay in Yorkshire in 2023, he joined the Toffees for the following two campaigns, but recent reports suggest that David Moyes will not make a permanent move for him, and is even less likely to link back up with Daniel Farke’s side whether or not they return to the top flight according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

However, there have been contrasting reports over that last point, with journalist Graeme Bailey suggesting that the German boss would be prepared to give him a shot should Leeds return to the Premier League.

According to Joe Donnohue, Major League Soccer has become a viable option for the 28-year-old after preliminary talks were held but no formal bids or negotiations have been held. The report states that finances is the major hurdle in a possible deal as it stands.

Writer’s View

Jack Harrison’s career has stalled whilst at Everton, with Dwight McNeil and Jesper Lindstrom being standout performers at stages of this campaign. He has failed to contribute and with the way Leeds United’s current crop of wingers are playing, such as Dan James, Largie Ramazani and potentially Manor Solomon should The Whites make a move for him in the summer, it feels there his no place for him at Elland Road. He is a Premier League calibre player, but with his performances being uninspiring whilst at The Toffees, it would not seem likely that another top-flight team would make a move for him. A return to MLS could revitalise his career and gives him the chance to play regularly in what is becoming a very competitive league.
