Tranmere Rovers owner Mark Palios has provided fans with an update on the club’s takeover situation.
The Wirral club has been subject to a takeover by a consortium led by American rapper A$AP Rocky for much of the season but has fully kicked into gear following his acquittal from felony assault charges last month.
Palios Gives Latest
In a message sent to fans who have renewed their season tickets for next year’s fixtures, the Palios family provided an update on where the takeover situation was. He said (Quotes via Wirral Globe):
“We continue to work on passing on the baton at Tranmere to new owners who will cherish the club and give it a bright future.
“These deals are immensely complex and are never certain until they are done. The poor results don’t make it any easier but we believe we have found an ownership group who will bring back the good times that we have shared with you in the last ten years and take the club further forward in the future.
“Football club ‘owners’ are not owners in the conventional sense. They are custodians there to try and safeguard the club and hand it on for future generations to enjoy. Fans like you ARE the club. So thank you for your support.”

Writer’s View
It is probably a relief to Tranmere fans that the deal is progressing but the pace of it does feel a little protracted considering the threat the club faces in terms of relegation. They are managerless following the sacking of Nigel Adkins and the uncertainty over who is in charge is likely not a helpful shadow to have cast over the club with a crucial stretch on the horizon which could decide their future in the EFL. The situation needs to be resolved quickly and a permanent manager found soon or they could find themselves helpless to Carlisle United‘s upturn in form and condemn Rovers to non-league.
