Leeds United Target Open To Summer Move

Leeds United could reignite their interest in Armenian international Eduard Spertsyan this summer, with the £17m-rated Krasnodar midfielder admitting he would be open to a move to Elland Road.

The Whites were reportedly tracking Spertsyan during the final days of the winter transfer window but failed to submit a suitable bid. Now, with promotion to the Premier League in their sights, they could revisit a deal in the next window.

Spertsyan Open to Leeds Move

Speaking to Russian outlet Championat, Spertsyan confirmed that while he never held direct talks with Leeds boss Daniel Farke in January, he would be open to the idea of joining the club in the future.

“Why not? They will most likely get into the Premier League, they are in first place.

Yes, I want to leave, but I can’t leave the club [in the winter]. For them to let me go in the winter, the offer must be very good, and the club must have a great desire to sign me. This winter, that’s exactly what didn’t happen.”

The 24-year-old playmaker, a two-time Russian Premier League Midfielder of the Year, has impressed again this season, scoring six goals in 25 games as Krasnodar push for their first-ever league title.

Leeds’ Need for a Creative Midfielder

Since the departure of Georginio Rutter to Brighton last summer, Leeds have lacked a natural No 10. Brenden Aaronson has been filling the role but has struggled to convince fans, making a move for a new creative midfielder a priority for Farke.

With a previous working relationship at Krasnodar, Farke is already familiar with Spertsyan’s qualities, which could make him an ideal addition if Leeds secure promotion.

Competition for His Signature

Leeds won’t be the only club monitoring Spertsyan’s situation. The Armenian has confirmed past interest from European heavyweights such as Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Ajax, Girona, and Lens.

“My agent was in Paris and had some discussions with PSG, but that was it,” Spertsyan revealed. “Juventus were interested. Girona made an offer last summer, and I was ready to go to Lens too, but Krasnodar wanted more than they were willing to pay.”

Writer’s View

Leeds United’s potential return to the Premier League will require smart recruitment, and Spertsyan would be a statement signing. His ability to unlock defences and contribute goals would be a major asset, but competition for his signature will be fierce. If Leeds can secure promotion early, they may have the upper hand in negotiations. This is definitely a name to watch as the summer window approaches.
