Wrexham face Stevenage tonight at The Racecourse in a pivotal League One clash.
The home side, currently third in the table, are eager to secure three points to carry into a demanding run of away fixtures in February.
Centre-back Dan Scarr has called for his side to capitalise on their strong recent performances and gain momentum in the promotion race.
Building on a Strong Performance
Phil Parkinson’s men are five points off league leaders Birmingham City following last Thursday’s 1-1 draw against their promotion rivals. Wrexham controlled large parts of the second half and were unfortunate not to take all three points. Reflecting on the Birmingham match, Scarr said:
“We were disappointed not to get the three points against Birmingham but if we can back it up on Tuesday at home, it’s a great result. How we played second half, if we kick on and play like that, especially in the next few games, I don’t think teams will live with us and we can get some good points on the board.”
Scarr, who returned to the starting lineup against Birmingham after an extended absence, emphasised the importance of maintaining that level of intensity against 15th-placed Stevenage. “We need to build on that point, hopefully win this home game against Stevenage and then that puts us in a good position leading into these away games,” he added.

Promotion Race Heats Up
Wrexham remain three points behind second-placed Wycombe Wanderers and four points clear of Huddersfield Town in fourth. Scarr believes their performance against Birmingham is a sign of the progress the club has made after back-to-back promotions.
“Obviously, they’re a great team and they’ve got some great players but it was disappointing not to get three points,” Scarr said. “Taking a team like that to the wire and pushing them shows how far we’ve come. They looked uncomfortable towards the end because we played well and pressured them.”
With their sights firmly set on promotion, Wrexham know the importance of keeping pace with the top two. The upcoming away fixtures will be crucial, but a strong result tonight could set the tone for the weeks ahead.
Writer’s View
Wrexham’s rise through the leagues has been nothing short of remarkable, and their performance against Birmingham City showcased their credentials as serious promotion contenders. A win against Stevenage would provide the perfect springboard into a tough February schedule. Scarr’s leadership and ability to step up after a long absence will be key as the team looks to maintain its momentum in this tightly contested League One campaign.
