Norwich City youngster Brandon Forbes has expressed his desire for a loan move to gain valuable senior football experience.
The 18-year-old forward joined the Canaries last summer in a £500,000 move from Dundee United, signing a four-year deal after impressing at first-team level in Scotland.
Adapting to Youth Football
Forbes has been playing for Norwich’s under-21s under the guidance of Olly Lee, while some of his peers, including Lucien Mahovo and Elliot Myles, have progressed to the first-team setup. Having previously experienced senior football with Dundee United, the transition back to youth football has been a challenge for the promising forward.
“I’d love to go out on loan. I’ve come from a background of playing men’s football from young, so that’s obviously something I want to do,” Forbes told The Pink Un.
The Scotland U18 international noted the stark difference between senior and youth football, describing it as a “big jump in a weird way.” However, he remains optimistic about his development and is eager to return to the senior level.
Finding Form and Building Confidence
Despite the adjustment period, Forbes has started to find his footing at Carrow Road. He recently showcased his talent with a stunning solo goal in Norwich’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham’s under-21s, his second goal in the Premier League 2 this season. The forward highlighted his growing confidence and focus on maintaining consistent performances.
“I’m kind of finding my feet now, so I’m quite happy with getting a bit of form,” he said. “It’s always going to take time. There were no real similarities from when I was in Scotland until I was here, so I did need to work on a lot of stuff and catch up with the boys physically.”
Eyeing a Loan Opportunity
Forbes is now setting his sights on a loan move to further his development. His background of early exposure to senior football with Dundee United, where he debuted as a teenager, has left him eager to replicate that experience in England. The forward believes that a temporary move could help bridge the gap between youth football and his ultimate goal of breaking into Norwich’s first team.

For Norwich City, a carefully selected loan spell could accelerate his development and pave the way for a future role in their first-team plans.
