Northampton Town Braced For Yet Another Departure

Northampton Town striker Martyn Waghorn has left the club following a mutual and amicable agreement to terminate his short-term contract.

Waghorn, who signed for the Cobblers at the end of October, made eight appearances and scored one goal during his brief spell.

Interim Manager’s Appreciation

Interim manager Ian Sampson praised Waghorn for his contribution to the team over the past few weeks and wished him well for the future.

“Martyn came in and helped us through the last few weeks,” said Sampson. “All parties have now agreed to terminate the contract, and we thank Martyn for his time with the club and we wish Martyn and his family all the very best for the future. He is a first-class character and a good man, and we have enjoyed having him in the dressing room.”

“I have enjoyed my albeit short time with Northampton Town,” said Waghorn. “This is a good club, and I thank everyone for making me so welcome. I wish everyone involved all the very best for the future.”
