Bolton Wanderers Boss Gets Chairman Backing Amid Perceived Struggles

Bolton Wanderers chairman Sharon Brittan has publicly expressed her unwavering support for manager Ian Evatt amid fan frustration following recent results.

Brittan took to the club’s official website to address fans, acknowledging their disappointment but urging unity as the team remains in contention for promotion. Currently sitting eighth in League One, Bolton is 13 points behind Wycombe but only a point shy of the playoff positions, with games in hand on several teams above them.

Chairman’s Statement

“As we approach the festive season, I want to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful New Year,” Brittan began. “As Chairman of Bolton Wanderers, I would also like to take this moment to reaffirm my loyal support – and that of the entire club – for our manager, Ian Evatt, his staff, and the players.”

Brittan highlighted the progress made under Evatt’s leadership since his appointment in July 2020. She pointed to milestones such as promotion from League Two, back-to-back Wembley appearances, and the club’s first silverware in over 30 years as evidence of the manager’s positive impact.

“Since Ian took charge, this club has made consistent progress, season by season,” she added. “His contributions have been immeasurable. I truly believe in the progress we are making and remain confident in Ian’s leadership.”

Calls for Unity

Amid frustrations over recent performances, Brittan emphasized the importance of collective focus and resilience. She reiterated the board’s trust in Evatt and outlined the club’s long-term vision for success, noting that their model values loyalty and continuity over short-term fixes.

“When times are challenging, we must come together as a club, a community, and a town – as we always do,” she urged. “Our collective focus must remain on achieving our ultimate goal: winning promotion to the Championship.”

Looking Ahead

Brittan concluded her statement by reaffirming her confidence in the team and the ongoing support from the fans, calling for patience and trust as the club works to overcome current challenges.

“This journey of ours is unique and, in my opinion, is a marathon not a sprint,” she said. “Together, we can push forward, overcome challenges, and achieve the success we all want for Bolton Wanderers.”
