Cardiff City fans have voiced their frustration with the club’s prolonged manager search, accusing the leadership of lacking transparency and urgency.
The Bluebirds have been without a permanent manager since Erol Bulut was dismissed on 22 September, and supporters are growing increasingly restless.

Interim manager Omer Riza has managed to lift the team from the foot of the table to 20th place, narrowly above the relegation zone. Despite this improvement, the lack of clarity regarding the appointment of a permanent successor has spurred fans into action. The Cardiff City Fan Advisory Board penned an open letter to chairman Mehmet Dalman and CEO Ken Choo, expressing concerns over the club’s direction.
“We have serious concerns about the lack of any clear plans for the future. Fan opinion is increasingly hostile, and this could lead to irreversible toxicity and apathy almost irrespective of results on the pitch,” the letter stated.
The group criticised the club’s leadership for a perceived absence of strategic planning and football expertise, citing the protracted manager search as a key indicator of deeper issues. They outlined three urgent requests: a clear update on the managerial search, transparency about the club’s short- and long-term plans, and more consistent communication with supporters.
Adding to the discontent, Cardiff were held to a controversial 2-2 draw against Coventry City over the weekend. A late penalty awarded against Callum Chambers for a dubious handball decision allowed Victor Torp to level the match for the hosts. The decision, which was initially dismissed by referee James Bell before being reversed on the advice of his assistant, left Cardiff players and fans fuming.
Riza shared his thoughts on the match, saying, “Personally, I don’t think it was a penalty. I’ve looked at it back, that’s my opinion. But the referees have made their decision, and I have to respect it.”
Coventry’s new manager, Frank Lampard, was also under the spotlight, with his debut marred by an unconvincing performance from his team. The draw leaves both sides winless in five games, with Cardiff hovering perilously close to the relegation zone.
