Sheffield United Boss Provides Positive Injury Update

Chris Wilder has revealed that Sheffield United striker Rhian Brewster is “really close” to returning from a fitness issue.

The Champions League winner with Liverpool has missed The Blades’ last four games and has suffered from multiple knocks that have ruled him out of action throughout his career at Bramall Lane.

Striker Injury Updates

Another key figure that has been missing is former Cardiff City forward Kieffer Moore, who was forced off the pitch 11 minutes after coming on in the win over Bristol City at the start of November.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Wilder provided updates on both Brewster and Moore, saying:

“Rhian’s really close. I said that on Tuesday night we have to make a really considered, sensible decision with Rhian considering his past injury record as well.

“We don’t think Kieffer’s going to make it. He’ll be one week.”

Despite the fitness woes in the position, United have thrived in recent weeks with Tyrese Campbell’s emergence. The ex-Stoke City man has scored five goals in his last six games, including the decisive goal in the Steel City Derby against Sheffield Wednesday.

18-year-old Ryan One has also emerged as a youthful option for Wilder, scoring in that game against Bristol City and has featured in their last four games. The Blades are level with Yorkshire rivals Leeds United at the top of the Championship and face arguably their toughest test yet when they play Sunderland tonight.

Writer’s View

It is a big boost for Sheffield United to get more depth at striker but with the way Tyrese Campbell has been playing Rhian Brewster won’t be getting into the team any time soon. Nevertheless, he will be good option to have for the game against Sunderland as they try to keep pace with a Leeds United side that look to have put their inconsistencies behind them. They have three massive tests in The Black Cats, West Bromwich Albion and Millwall in these next games and should they get wins in all three they should be viewed as the title favourites this year.
