Injury and Suspension Updates

Isaac Schmidt remains sidelined after undergoing minor hernia surgery, while Junior Firpo will serve the last of his three-match suspension. Firpo’s absence means Sam Byram is set to retain his spot at left-back.

Club captain Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev are also out of contention due to knee injuries. Farke acknowledged the tight schedule, as this will be Leeds’ second match in four days, but remains focused on securing a third consecutive victory.

Farke’s Thoughts on Luton

Ahead of the match, Farke praised Luton Town, describing them as a team in a “false position.” He added:

“For me, they are one of the contenders for the top six. There’s no doubt about this. They played last season in the Premier League. When you are relegated, it’s quite often difficult to avoid a hangover in the Championship. They still have lots of quality and physicality in their team. They have a manager who has worked miracles for them.”

Farke also emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards despite their recent successes.

“We know right now we’re in a good spell, but even after such a game, we speak about the things that were not perfect,” he said.

Leeds United Squad vs Luton

Here’s the full squad list available to Farke for the match:

Goalkeepers: Illan Meslier, Karl Darlow, Daniël Cairns
Defenders: Sam Byram, Jayden Bogle, Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon, Maximilian Wober, Boubacar Debayo
Midfielders: Dan James, Wilfried Gnonto, Lewis Rothwell, Shun Tanaka, Josuha Guilavogui, Archie Gray, Solomon Crew
Forwards: Largie Ramazani, Brenden Aaronson, Joel Piroe, Mateo Joseph, Patrick Bamford, Joe Gelhardt

Writer’s View

Leeds United’s injury concerns could test their squad depth, but Farke’s tactical flexibility and recent momentum give them a strong chance against Luton. The Whites must capitalise on this opportunity to consolidate their position at the top of the Championship table. Keeping Luton’s physicality in check will be key to securing all three points.
