“Can’t Be Naive” – Hull City Man Makes Relegation Claim Amid Poor Form

Hull City defender Cody Drameh has urged his teammates to face reality as the Tigers find themselves entrenched in a relegation battle following a narrow 1-0 loss to Luton Town.

The defeat marked Hull’s third consecutive loss, leaving them 22nd in the Championship table and a single point from safety.

A Call for Unity and Urgency

Saturday’s loss at Kenilworth Road not only saw Luton leapfrog Hull City out of the relegation zone but also further piled the pressure on manager Tim Walter, who faced jeers from travelling fans. Drameh, speaking candidly about the situation, acknowledged the frustrations of supporters while emphasising the need for a united effort.

“Definitely (understand fans’ frustrations). For me, I was relegated last season with Birmingham. It’s very, very like similar, you know, so I think we just can’t be naïve and saying like it can’t continue like this. We’ve got to go again, we’ve got to try and stick together as a team, be together with the gaffer and all the players as well and just try to look back at what we could have done better and try to go again against Sheffield Wednesday,” said Drameh.

With only one home win to their name this season, Hull City are desperate to turn their fortunes around. Tuesday night’s Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday at the MKM Stadium presents a critical opportunity to make their home ground a fortress. Drameh expressed hope that the support of the fans will inspire the squad to deliver a much-needed result.

Turning the MKM into a Fortress

Drameh highlighted the importance of capitalising on home advantage, urging the team to match the passion of their supporters. He believes the energy of the crowd could play a pivotal role in sparking a turnaround in Hull’s campaign.

“It’s the perfect opportunity on Tuesday. It’s your home, you’ve got to make it a fortress with the fans and everyone behind you. The energy in the stadium, you’ve just got to make it a fortress so hopefully we can start something of a good run at home on Tuesday,” added Drameh.

Despite the mounting pressure on manager Tim Walter, the Tigers have no time to dwell on recent setbacks. With 16 games played in the 46-game Championship campaign, there is still a long road ahead. However, Hull must quickly find consistency to climb out of the bottom three.

Writer’s View

Cody Drameh’s experience of relegation with Birmingham City last season gives his words added weight. Hull City’s lack of success at home is a glaring issue, and their match against Sheffield Wednesday is a golden chance to ignite a survival push. While fans have voiced their frustrations, a positive result on Tuesday could begin to restore faith and provide the foundation for a much-needed resurgence.
