Major Hull City Injury News Emerges

Hull City have had their preparation for their clash with West Bromwich Albion this weekend interrupted by the news they were fearing on the injury front, as reported by the Hull Daily Mail.

Algerian playmaker Mohamed Belloumi has had his anterior cruciate ligament injury confirmed.

Devastating Blow For Hull’s Campaign

Belloumi’s performances have been a bright spark in an otherwise disappointing season so far. The £4.5 million signing from Portuguese side Farense has started 10 matches this season, contributing two goals and two assists.

The winger injured his knee during Tuesday’s defeat at Oxford United and will be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Belloumi has performed consistently well this season, accumulating an average rating of 7.38 with FotMob. The Algerian has created 23 chances for his teammates as well as delivering 15 successful crosses and completing 15 dribbles.

Against Oxford, Belloumi had been the star performer for the Tigers until he was struck down by injury with just eight minutes left to play. This injury blow follows news that fellow summer signing Liam Millar suffered the same injury just last month.

What Have Hull Had To Say?

The news has rocked the players and staff at the MKM Stadium. This afternoon, Hull has given a statement about their star man’s injury.

“Hull City can confirm that winger Mohamed Belloumi has suffered an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament, sustained during Tuesday night’s fixture with Oxford United and as such is likely to miss the remainder of the season.”

“The 22-year-old has made 10 appearances for the Tigers, scoring a brace in our 4-1 win over Cardiff City in September. Belloumi will be supported by the club’s medical department to work through his rehabilitation phase. All at the club sends Mohamed their best wishes and we will continue to support him throughout his recovery.”

This is a devastating blow for Hull City. Manager Tim Walter is already facing the jeers of supporters so the loss of one of his star performers is a huge set back for him.

The Tigers will miss Belloumi’s creativity and his loss will make the challenge of climbing the table even more difficult.
