Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl insists his players must keep their concentration against Watford despite the Hornet’s poor aways form, as reported by The Star.
Watford travel to Hillsborough with just one win from six away matches this season.
Watford’s Clear Weakness
Tom Cleverley leads his side into action this afternoon with them currently occupying 7th spot in the Championship, with just goal difference keeping them out of the playoff spots.
Of their 19 points, Watford have achieved 16 at home and Rohl is keen to capitalise on his opponent’s struggles on the road.
“They have a great home performance, their away performance is not the greatest one.”
A Dangerous Foe
Despite the Hornet’s struggles away from Vicarage Road, Rohl is encouraging his players to keep their concentration against a side with players who can produce moments to turn a game on its head.
“It is a team with individual players that can decide a game, even the home games when you look back, like their last game, they won with a pen. Blackburn controlled the game for a long time.”
“I watched the Middlesbrough game as well, they controlled their game too for a long time but then there were two moments and they won.”
“This is dangerous against Watford. They come sometimes from nothing to get something and for this we have to be ready, we do not give them the small chances and we play on the front foot in the right direction to create pressure in the stadium with good energy.”
Players Are Fresh And Hungry
Rohl rotated much of his squad for the Carabao Cup defeat against Brentford on Tuesday night and, despite the result, is pleased where that sees his squad.
“It was helpful for us to rotate the squad on Tuesday.”
“You feel in training some players are back, fresh, hungry, lively. This is fantastic. We go with a starting 11 and then we know there will come a point to bring the next players in and they will help us bring the game home hopefully.”
Writer’s View
The Owls find themselves almost dead centre of the Championship table at present, three points from the drop zone yet only four away from today’s playoff-chasing opponents.
Rohl will be desperate to exploit Watford’s frailties away from home and propel Wednesday into the chasing pack.
