Former Sheffield Wednesday Man Set For League Two Move

Kadeem Harris could be set to make a return to English football in years as Carlisle United have confirmed they are in talks with the 31-year-old.

The midfielder last played professionally on these shores with Sheffield Wednesday, where he spent two years and was part of the Owls side that were relegated from the Championship in 2020/21.

Harris Heads For Cumbria

After years spent in Ukraine and most recently Turkey, Harris has returned to England and over the past week had been spotted in training with other members of the United squad. The Carlisle News & Star asked head coach Mike Williamson about signing the free agent ahead of their clash in the first round of the FA Cup against Wigan Athletic.

“We’re working on it. He’s been in this week and he’s done really well.

“He’s got the experience, he’s got quality and we’re working hard on it now – he’s somebody that we would love to bring in.

“As far as his experience goes, he’s already had a bit of an impact with the lads, which is good. Hopefully, we can get something sorted as soon as possible.”

Williamson highlighted his versatility across the pitch, with the former Cardiff City man capable of playing across the midfield and at wing-back. The former MK Dons boss has previously used the free agent market since arriving at Brunton Park after bringing in Tyler Burey after his release from Danish side OB.

Mike Williamson is under immense pressure at Carlisle United but is still looking to make moves to benefit his style of play whilst the board still back him. On paper, this looks like a good move, with Harris a versatile player and able to get forward and attack. Many of Carlisle’s problems have come from poor defending though so he may have to produce outstanding moments on the back foot rather than the attacking output Williamson is hopeful he can provide.
