Millwall shot-stopper Lukas Jensen insists he has plenty more to offer his new club as he prepares to face his former club Burnley tomorrow, as reported by London News Online.
The giant Dane joined the Turf Moor side in 2019 and is now set for a reunion at The Den.
Jensen’s Journey With Burnley
Jensen headed to Lancashire from Danish outfit Hellerkup IK in the summer of 2019 and would go on to make the club’s bench for three Premier League matches.
The keeper enjoyed loan spells with the likes of Carlisle United and Accrington Stanley before making a permanent move to Lincoln City.
Excelling With The Imps
Leaving Burnley and dropping to League One with Lincoln City turned out to be a masterstroke for Jensen’s career.
He became one of the leading stoppers in the third tier, with his statistics, provided by FotMob, making superb reading.
- 19 League One clean sheets
- 39 goals conceded in 45 league matches
- 77.2% save percentage
- 93 high claims
Looking Forward To Burnley Test
The 25-year-old is desperate to perform well against The Clarets, viewing the two matches against them as the most important of the season.
“I said to the team that it (the Burnley game) is already the most important of the season. There are two games I’m looking forward to – Burnley home and Burnley away. Nothing else.”
He is determined to show his former employers what they are missing after they chose not to extend his contract before his move to Lincoln.
“There were so many good things but when you are not there any more I still want to beat them – just to show ‘yeah, you’re missing out on me now because you didn’t want to extend me’. Hopefully, I can do my job on Sunday.”
Jensen At Millwall
The new signing has already kept five clean sheets for his new club but insists there’s more in the tank.
“There is lots more to come.”
“I really see my start here at Millwall like how I started last season at Lincoln. I didn’t start particularly well but then I grew in confidence and grew with the team.”
Writer’s View
Jensen is an excellent keeper and has helped to tighten up the defence after a leaky start to life in London.
He will have to be on top form to help his side get anything against Scott Parker’s men but his form could help propel The Lions towards a playoff challenge.
