Our Three Predictions For Stoke City vs Derby County
- Prediction 1 – Derby County to score in the second half – 23/25
- Prediction 2 – Tom Cannon to score any time – 12/5
- Prediction 3 – Match to end in a draw – 9/4
First Prediction For Stoke City vs Derby County – Derby County to score in the second half – 23/25
Each of The Rams’ last seven goals came in the second half and it seems County thrive when the game clock is beginning to tick down. Only four of the 15 they have scored in the Championship have come in the first half. Stoke did capitulate early in the second half in their two most recent league games, with Nakhi Wells bagging a brace five minutes following the restart for Bristol City and Sheffield United securing the game through a Tyrese Campbell goal the exact same minute as the Bermudan scored his first.
Second Prediction For Stoke City vs Derby County – Tom Cannon to score any time – 12/5
The Leicester City loanee was Stoke’s biggest creative outlet on the night against Southampton, setting up the move for Ashley Phillips to score before finding the net himself. He has been a very rough player at times this season, only scoring in two games so far at the club, with the other being the four he grabbed against Portsmouth. His manager did say post-match the decision to sub him was fully in mind of this game so he will assuredly be starting come kick-off on Saturday.
Third Prediction For Stoke City vs Derby County – Match to end in a draw – 9/4
There seems to be little separating these two sides. Stoke City’s confidence, coming through from pushing a Premier League side to the edge in the cup this week, is likely to be cancelled out by a well-rested Derby side that might not have picked up a large haul of points but have certainly made themselves hard to beat—a point to consider in any betting tips for this match. Narcis Pelach did rest a few key players against The Saints, with Million Manhoef and Lewis Koumas both making substitute appearances at St Mary’s. Derby have not won in nine away games and neither side have found a consistent goalscorer so far. This will be a very tight game.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head
Stoke City, listed with competitive odds on the top football betting sites, took Premier League side Southampton to the brink of penalties in their midweek EFL Cup clash. Ultimately the Saints found a winner, rendering The Potters’ fight back from 2-0 down in vain as they were knocked out in the last 16. In the Championship, Pelach and his side are still searching for their first win since that hammering of Portsmouth at the start of the month. They drew their next three before losing to promotion contenders Sheffield United in their most recent match. Should they lose and other results go against them, they could finish the weekend in the relegation zone.
Derby County are on a four-game unbeaten run since losing to table toppers Sunderland. Three of those results have been draws though, with the only win coming at home to Queens Park Rangers. Since their promotion from League One last season, Paul Warne’s side has shown they can comfortably compete in this division, sitting in 12th place ahead of all the action this weekend. In our predictions, a win could certainly put them into the play-off mix, as they are currently four points behind sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers.
These two sides last played competitively in 2021, with The Rams doing the double over Stoke in a season where they were ultimately relegated from the Championship. Tom Ince scored in both games for The Potters but his efforts were ultimately in vain as now-Plymouth Argyle manager Wayne Rooney coached the Pride Park side to wins over Michael O’Neill. The most recent contest was in preseason for the 2023/24 campaign, with County winning 3-0.
