Bristol City Boss Fired-Up Ahead Of Leeds United Clash

Bristol City are set to face Leeds United at home this weekend, with both sides starting to build some unbeaten momentum.

Chris Hogg is the current interim manager for the Robins’ after Liam Manning had to step down temporarily – due to deeply saddening circumstances. Bristol City haven’t lost in six matches, whereas the Yorkshire outfit have won eight of their last nine head-to-head meetings.

What was said about Leeds?

Speaking to the City media team in a pre-match conference, Hogg had this honest view on welcoming Leeds to Ashton Gate and what he expects from the opposition:

“I’m looking forward to it, really excited. On the back of the last two games it’s a really good game for us to go into, it’s one for us to go and try take on our performance level again. Show real aggression and purpose with what we do, with and without the ball.

“You could probably copy every coaches and managers pre-game script against Leeds, they’ll say the same thing. They’ve a very good team, top players, top manager, really hard challenge but one we’re excited and ready for.”

Redemption for the Robins?

Having only drawn with Leeds once in their past nine meetings, Bristol City will be hopeful of finally securing a win against Daniel Farke’s men. The Whites have only lost once all season and scored ten goals in their previous five outings – with their attacking force starting to gel.

Unfortunately for Hogg’s side, the competition’s highest ‘big chance’ creator, Scott Twine, will be sidelined for the proceedings. A likely winger pairing of Anis Mehmeti and Yu Hirakawa could be continued with Nahki Wells leading the line – following the 34-year-old’s midweek brace. This will be the front force expected to combat a resolute Leeds defence.

Writer’s View

A draw would be a decent result for Bristol City, but would also halt Leeds’ momentum slightly. The Elland Road homeowners will need to pick up three points in their charge for promotion, but Hogg’s side can feel they could settle for a point apiece.

Hearing the Robins manager speak about his side’s mentality heading into this fixture, an emphasis on taking the game to Leeds could constitute in a fierce match-up. Bristol City likely won’t go down without a fight, but they could be overwhelmed by the sheer barrage of offensive action from their visitors.
