Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones has all but confirmed the imminent signing of veteran striker Danny Hylton.
The 35-year-old, who has been training with the Addicks since pre-season, is expected to sign a short-term deal, similar to that of defender Dan Potts, who was added to the squad just days ago.
Hylton, who was released by Northampton Town at the start of the summer, has a longstanding relationship with Jones. The striker previously thrived under Jones during their time together at Luton Town, where he scored 21 goals in each of his first two seasons, helping the club secure promotion from League Two.
Jones did not shy away from addressing speculation about Hylton’s arrival, telling London News Online: “Whatever we do with Danny Hylton, Danny Hylton has been magnificent for me.
“If we do something like that it will be for a reason and if we do I’ll explain why that is.”
Charlton, currently looking to bolster their attacking options, appear keen to utilise Hylton’s experience as they aim for a stronger season in League One.
