Norwich City face a tough battle to keep hold of centre-forward Adam Idah this summer as two clubs in Europe’s top-five leagues are the latest to be interested in his signature.
The Republic of Ireland international moved to Celtic during the second half of the 2023/24 campaign and had an excellent spell leading the line under Brendan Rodgers. In Glasgow, the striker scored nine goals and recorded two assists in just 19 appearances, including a late winner to beat the club’s bitter rivals Rangers in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park back in May.
Following his fruitful spell at Parkhead, Celtic have been keen to retain his services on a permanent basis in a saga which has dragged on for over two months. It was revealed towards the start of the summer window that new Canaries boss Johannes Hoff Thorup was not willing to allow the 23-year-old to leave without first assessing his talents in pre-season.
True to his word, Idah has featured for Norwich City in some friendly matches, although he missed the Norfolk club’s recent outing against German side Magdeburg, adding fuel to the fire about his impending exit.
BBC Sport reported at the beginning of July that the Championship side rejected a bid worth between £4-5 million from the European giants for Idah’s services, with sources telling the publication’s Scottish branch that the club are not actively looking to sell him this summer. Instead, it is believed that Norwich are looking for an offer of £8 million, a valuation that has not currently been met.
Nevertheless, TEAMtalk have revealed that Celtic face stiff competition for Idah’s signature this summer as Serie A clubs Fiorentina, who recently reached the Europa Conference League final in consecutive seasons, and Hellas Verona are also interested in the frontman. However, the outlet added that the Canaries will only sell the player if their valuation is met.

Idah proved from his time in Glasgow last season that he is a useful centre-forward who can wreak havoc against any backline and also knows where the goal is. However, he is not worth £8 million, which is likely why a deal is taking so long to come to fruition.
Regardless, Norwich City don’t look to be in a rush to sell the player who has acted as a backup throughout most of his time at Carrow Road. But if this stance changes, the club will need to drop their asking price, otherwise Idah may still be in Hoff Thorup’s squad once the transfer window closes.
