Sheffield United are keen to pip Hull City to the signing of Harrison Burrows but also have another Peterborough United player in their sights, according to reports.
The Blades are looking to strengthen their first-team squad this summer despite being rather cash-strapped due to the ongoing takeover talks. Chris Wilder’s side has already been weakened over the past two weeks with players such as Wes Foderingham, John Egan, Max Lowe, George Baldock, Chris Basham, Ben Osborn, Oli McBurnie, and Oliver Norwood all leaving the club, among others, while former Blackburn Rovers man Ben Brereton Diaz and Yasser Larouci’s loan deals have expired.
Heading into the 2024/25 campaign, Wilder’s squad has been stripped to the bone while other contenders for Premier League promotion have improved around them. As a result, a Supercomputer has predicted the South Yorkshire side to finish as low as 17th next season after simulating every fixture for all 24 clubs 1,000 times.
Nevertheless, Sheffield United still have a list of targets that they want to attempt to sign before the transfer window slams shut. According to a report from Will Unwin of The Guardian, the recently relegated side are hoping to raid Peterborough’s squad by acquiring both Burrows and Ricky-Jade Jones in a package. Unwin has stated that a deal “could be tied up soon”.
Sheffield United & Coventry City Handed Boost In Transfer Pursuit
Burrows has recently emerged as a target for fellow Yorkshire side Hull City in recent weeks. It was revealed that the Tigers had agreed a fee with the Posh for their captain but nothing has been completed as of yet.

It’s not surprising that Sheffield United are keen to sign a fullback and an attacker this summer after losing a wave of players over the past few days. Burrows was the best left-back in League One last season, having recorded 23 goal contributions for Peterborough, while Jones registered 16 goal contributions in all competitions.
Now, it looks as though a deal will come to fruition for the duo very soon, although it will certainly be interesting to see how much the Blades are forced to cough up given the current financial situation they find themselves in.
