Norwich City look set to miss out on Bournemouth attacker Jamal Lowe as he closes in on a free transfer to Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday, according to Sheffield Wednesday News.
The Canaries were reportedly battling with a number of clubs in their division for the signature of the Jamaican international. Still, it is now being reported that he prefers a move to the Yorkshire Outfit.
Lowe’s current club Bournemouth announced that he’s set to be released this summer. Although he spent three years at the Cherries, in the last 18 months he has been loaned out to second-tier outfits in QPR and Swansea City, respectively.
With 17 goal contributions in 55 appearances combined during those two spells, the South Coast outfit clearly felt that a step up to the Premier League was going to be too much for the forward.
If Wednesday are to complete this deal, it would be their fifth of the summer already, with the window only opening just over a fortnight ago. The 29-year-old would join the likes of Max Lowe, Yan Valery, Ben Hamer and Swedish midfielder Svante Ingesson who have already made the move to Hillsborough.
A desire to build a squad ready for pre-season is clearly present at the club and a rebuild is likely to be part of that. Although Danny Rohl helped steer his side away from relegation last term, additions are necessary if the German is to help the side realise the ambitions he believe they can achieve.
One of those areas where improvement is needed is in the attacking third. Having struggled in front of goal last season, the Owls had the second worst attack in the division, with bottom placed and local rivals Rotherham United the only side with fewer goals.
Therefore, Rohl may believe the speed and power that Lowe could bring to his side is the perfect ingredient to take his forward line to the next level, to build on the 20th place finish his side secured last time out.

There has been a lot of talk this summer about the direction of Sheffield Wednesday. This time last year, there was a real concern where the club were headed, after Darren Moore left the side close to the start of the season and with financial concerns being at the forefront of many fans’ thoughts.
However, this year there seems a real buzz building at Hillsborough. Not just have they got an ambitious young manager who has already proven himself to English football fans as the real deal, but they are aiming for ambitious transfer deals such as this one. Getting this over the line would add to that excitement.
