Norwich City have been handed a boost in their pursuit of winger Jamal Lowe this summer as one club have dropped out of the race for his signature, according to the latest reports.
Lowe was isolated from Andoni Iraola’s squad last summer at Bournemouth, having been told by the Spaniard that he was not part of his plans heading into the 2023/24 campaign. This immediately piqued the interest of clubs in the Championship, including Norwich City, as the Cherries were open to selling him.

Nevertheless, a deal with the Canaries never came to fruition and Lowe, a former Portsmouth loanee, eventually joined Swansea City on a season-long loan. It was a fruitful spell for the 29-year-old as he bagged nine goals and recorded three assists in all competitions for the Swans, finishing the campaign as their joint-top goalscorer.
Swansea boss Luke Williams recently admitted that the Welsh outfit won’t be able to sign the attacker permanently this summer as Lowe is currently on a Premier League salary with Bournemouth.
“I think it’s going to be difficult because Jamal is on a Premier League salary. That could be a real issue.”
Now, The News are reporting that Portsmouth are facing the same difficulty as Swansea and will not look to make a move for Lowe this summer despite being linked with the winger back in May. The outlet are claiming that Pompey cannot afford his wages but are still looking to bolster their wide areas over the coming months.

Lowe will be an excellent signing for any Championship team next season who are hoping to make a push for promotion. Norwich City fit into this category and may see Lowe as a replacement for Jonathan Rowe who could leave this summer following reported interest from the top-flight.
Additionally, the Bournemouth forward is said to be on £12,000 per week, as per Capology, which could be affordable for the Canaries but may be well outside the price range of Portsmouth, Swansea or any other suitors who will likely compete in the lower half of the table next season.
