Update Emerges On Norwich City Star’s Future After Recent Links

Norwich City could be set for a summer of transition after missing out on promotion to the Premier League with several players heading for the exit door, according to the latest reports.

In the aftermath of the Canaries’ drubbing against Leeds United in the play-off semi-final back in May, a number of players have been linked with moves away from the club. First-choice centre-back Ben Gibson has already left as the Norfolk-based club refused to offer him an extended stay at Carrow Road. The defender has since signed for Championship rivals Stoke City.

Norwich City Hoping To Secure £8 Million Transfer

Another player touted with a permanent exit this summer is centre-forward Adam Idah. The Republic of Ireland international had a fruitful loan spell with Celtic in the second half of last season, where he scored nine goals and 19 games. The Scottish giants are hopeful of signing the striker permanently but recent reports have claimed that new Norwich City boss Johannes Hoff Thorup wants to see Idah in pre-season before deciding on his future at the club.

Furthermore, fullback Dimitrios Giannoulis will leave Carrow Road this summer as his contract is set to expire in less than two weeks. The Greek left-back was an integral player under David Wagner but is not going to stick around after the Canaries failed to earn promotion to the Premier League.

There had been rumours circulating recently which claimed that the 28-year-old is set to join Bundesliga side Augsburg once his deal with Norwich officially expires at the end of this month. However, Greek outlet Sportime, via Inside Futbol, have rejected these claims, stating that Giannoulis is not close to joining the German outfit and has yet to decide who his next club will be.

Norwich City will certainly lose Giannoulis within the coming fortnight, meaning Hoff Thorup’s backline is set for a major shake-up after the Greek leaves, with Gibson having already departed, although Jose Cordoba has been signed as a successor for the latter.

Additionally, it will be interesting to see who the club signs to replace their outgoing left-sided fullback. Former player Brandon Williams is available on a free transfer, although perhaps he may have spoiled his relationship with the fans after his recent stint at Ipswich Town.
