Norwich City Hoping To Secure £8 Million Transfer

Norwich City will demand £8 million from Celtic if they want to sign Adam Idah on a permanent basis, according to HITC.

The attacker joined the Scottish giants on loan during the winter transfer window. He proved to be a success, scoring nine goals in 19 appearances, including a late winner in the Scottish Cup final against bitter rivals Rangers.

It is believed that Brendan Rodgers is keen on bringing the 23-year-old back to Celtic Park this summer. However, they suffered a blow in their pursuit earlier this week when it was revealed that new Norwich boss Johannes Hoff Thorup is keen to assess Idah during pre-season.

The Canaries made the decision to part company with David Wagner following their play-off semi-final defeat against Leeds United last month. Thorup was swiftly appointed after impressing with Danish outfit FC Nordsjælland.

Although Idah appears to be remaining at Carrow Road for the immediate future, every player has their price and Norwich have set theirs. The Republic of Ireland international is under contract until 2028, meaning they hold the upper hand in any potential negotiations. It is claimed that Celtic are prepared to pay £5 million for the striker’s services, although the East Anglian outfit are holding out for closer to £8 million.

The player was asked about the situation prior Ireland’s 3-0 friendly defeat against Portugal this week, saying:

“Celtic is a massive club and built off the fans. Playing games like the Cup Final, and scoring the winner, I’m sure the fans will appreciate it and I appreciate them just as much.

“I’m still contracted to Norwich and have four years left there. I’m still going back to Norwich as it stands, I haven’t really thought too much about it. I spoke briefly to Norwich about when I’m coming back. It’s difficult at the start of the window as it’s coming up to our summer holidays and we’re on internationals right now.

“I’ve never been in this situation before and don’t know much about how it works. We’re on internationals right now and that is my main focus. Then I’ll get a holiday or two in and see what happens.

“Look, I’m still at Norwich and I have four years at Norwich. They are my parent club and I don’t know what’s going on.”

Thorup will obviously want the best players at his disposal next season as he looks to hit the ground running with his new club. It will also give him an idea of what positions need strengthening during the upcoming transfer window.

The likelihood is that Idah will eventually move north of the border and complete a transfer to Celtic, with both the club and the player said to be keen. The Bhoys will be reluctant to part with that much cash, but the reality is that an agreement could be reached somewhere in the middle of the two clubs valuation of the player.
