Championship duo Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Karamoko Dembele this summer as the player will be made available for sale, according to reports.
The Whites face a tough task to keep hold of some key players after missing out on promotion to the Premier League last month following a defeat to Southampton in the play-off final. One star who will likely be heading for the exit door is Crysencio Summerville. The Dutchman had an incredible campaign in England’s second tier, bagging 21 goals and recording 10 assists for the Whites in all competitions, including 29 goal contributions in the league.

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road this summer after such a stellar campaign, with clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea keen on his securing his signature, although the latest reports have revealed that Brighton and Hove Albion are closing in on the winger who has a £30 million price tag on his head.
Furthermore, Wilfried Gnonto is another attacker who could be set to leave Leeds United over the coming months after garnering interest from the English top-flight and from clubs in Italy. As a result, the West Yorkshire outfit will need to find replacements for the duo.
It was reported by HITC back in March that Leeds were keeping tabs on Dembele’s progress at Blackpool with an eye to signing him in the summer. Meanwhile, Joe Crann from The Star claimed three weeks ago that Sheffield Wednesday were also hopeful of bringing Dembele back to English football.

The 21-year-old has now returned to Stade Brestois from his loan spell at Bloomfield Road where he scored nine times and registered 14 assists for the Seasiders. It has been revealed by Brest’s sporting director Gregory Lorenzi, via L’Equipe, that the French side will look to sell the wide playmaker this summer as the club seeks to raise money for transfers. Dembele currently boasts a market value of between £1.8-2.8 million, as per FootballTransfers.

This is a huge boost for any suitors for Dembele, whether it be Leeds United or Sheffield Wednesday. There was a chance that the forward returned to France from his loan spell in League One and would become a squad player at Brest ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. However, this now seems incredibly unlikely after Lorenzi’s revelation.
Dembele was too good for the third tier last season during his time at Blackpool but the Championship will offer him a newer, more exciting challenge to sink his teeth into. Whoever gets their hands on him permanently is signing a gem.
