Charlton Athletic’s Terrell Thomas is reportedly in talks with League Two outfit Notts County, who are set to offer the defender a contract, according to Pete O’Rourke on Twitter (X).
Thomas is set to hit the free agent market when his contract ends at the Valley this summer and he’s not been short of potential suitors. Having appeared for the Addicks 40 times in League One this season, 31 of those being starts, he is more than proven at the level and it’s perhaps a slight surprise that he’s set to drop down a league.
He may not have had his best season for Charlton, but that’s hard to say about the majority of the squad, who limped to a 16th place finish. They would finish the season on the up though, which coincided with the arrival of manager Nathan Jones. As a result, there’s hope for next season, but Thomas isn’t set to be a part of the future plans of the club.
He’d previously been linked with fellow League One side Blackpool, with the Football Insider stating that the club had displayed an interest during the January transfer window. After being named on Charlton’s released list, Thomas is now available on a free, however the Tangerines now look set to miss out.
Although it is unknown whether Neil Critchley still retained an interest in the Saint Lucian international, he could’ve been a good addition at Bloomfield Road. He may have not been an instant starter, but given that the 28-year-old can play as both a central defender as well as on the left hand side, he could’ve provided ample cover.
With Notts County set to make an offer for the Charlton man, it seems as if Blackpool may have to look elsewhere for defensive options this summer and they may even consider looking at loan options from the higher leagues.
After only just missing out on the play-offs last term, finishing eighth, the Tangerines will be looking to bolster their ranks prior to another tilt at promotion. Even though they look rather likely to miss out on Thomas, expect them to be in for a number of proven League One defenders this summer.

With proven quality in the third tier, the potential signing of Thomas is a rather large one for the Magpies. They struggled defensively last season and he would certainly improve their current ranks and could excel in the fourth tier.
It’s not the end of the world that Blackpool are missing out though, and they may be targeting some more ambitious options this summer. The club are expected to fully back Neil Critchley now, something that the permanent signing of Jordan Rhodes earlier in the week emphasises.
It’s set to be a busy summer at Bloomfield Road and they could indeed gain promotion next season if everything falls into place.
