Sheffield Wednesday and Queens Park Rangers are just two clubs who have registered interest in Rotherham United defender Cameron Humphrys, according to reports.
It was revealed by Football Insider two weeks ago that the Owls and QPR were keen on winning the race for the 25-year-old this summer but were joined by fellow Championship side Swansea City for the central defender.
Despite Rotherham’s relegation to League One last season, after accumulating merely 27 points in 46 matches in the Championship, Humphreys was one of the Millers’ better performers, hence why there is a battle to keep him in England’s second tier next season.
Nevertheless, speaking on the rumoured interest from clubs in the division above, Rotherham boss Steve Evans admitted that he is not aware of any intrigue from Championship sides in the centre-half while cracking a wry joke at the expense of Sheffield Wednesday [quotes via the Rotherham Advertiser]:
“If he’s mentioned with Wednesday then I’m not surprised if he’s mentioned with Thursday and Friday as well.
“Cameron has been really good for me in the three games he’s played but we are not aware of any interest from any club.”
