Portsmouth head coach John Mousinho has admitted that he’d be keen to have Abu Kamara back on loan next season in the Championship.
Following a 3-2 victory over Barnsley at Fratton Park last week, Pompey wrapped up the League One title, clinching promotion to the second tier of English football for the first time in 12 years. Mousinho even earned himself the Manager of the Season award for his troubles.

Interestingly, Portsmouth don’t boast the best defence nor the best attack in the division, yet could end the campaign at least five points clear of Derby County in second place should they beat a rejuvenated Lincoln City at home on Saturday afternoon.
One of the key players for the team throughout the campaign has been Kamara, who spent the entire season on loan from Norwich City. The Canaries face their own promotion battle in the league above and could potentially seal a return to the Premier League via the play-offs.
The 20-year-old has bagged eight goals in total this term but is the top assister at Fratton Park, recording 11 assists in all competitions for Pompey. Only four players in League One have registered more assists than the English attacker.

Kamara will return to Carrow Road at the end of the campaign as a league champion but Mousinho believes there will be another conversation to be had with Norwich about possibly extending his loan stay.
Speaking to The News ahead of this weekend’s clash at home to an in-form Lincoln, the 37-year-old said [quotes via Football League World]:
“Who knows what will happen with Abu? I’m sure that will be another conversation we have with Andrew [Hughes] and Norwich come the summer, then we’ll see how it goes from there,” the manager said.
“If you look at those pathways for players who end up in the Premier League.
“A really successful League One loan spell followed by a Championship loan spell probably sets you up for the next level,” he continued.
“Not that he may be ready to step up to the Premier League, should Norwich make it, but we’ll see what happens there. Again though, that’s out of our hands and we’ll just have to see what happens.”
