“That Was A Big Result” – Crawley Town Manager Delighted With Latest Win

Crawley Town boss Scott Lindsey was on the whole extremely pleased with his sides’ performance in their 4-1 victory over Mansfield Town, but insisted improvements can still be made.

Kellan Gordon opened the scoring against his former side in the first half before Nick Tsaroulla added a second before the break. Klaidi Lolos and club top scorer Dani Orsi then rounded off the scoring to help Town strengthen their grip on the final play-off spot.

Hiram Boateng did score a late consolation for the Stags but it was a day which belonged to the Sussex club, who are one of the in-form teams in League Two at the minute. Having scoring eight goals over the previous two games and winning five of their last seven matches, the Red Devils are putting an almighty marker down to preserve their current position.

They now have a three-point buffer back to AFC Wimbledon in eighth which further signified the importance of their victory over Mansfield with the Dons beating Salford City on Saturday. Now sat just two points behind Crewe Alexandra and Barrow with a game in hand on the former, there is still time for Scott Lindsey’s side to further climb the League Two table. In their current form, there’s no reason why they can’t do just that.

Speaking to Sussex World, after the impressive victory over the automatic chasers, Lindsey praised his side:

“That was a big result for us today. I thought we scored some really good goals today and I’m clearly delighted. I can’t ask for too much more with a result like this at Mansfield, who are a really good side.”

“That’s the quietest I’ve ever known Mansfield fans. They are usually really noisy, and I could hear our fans over them pretty much from the start of the game, right to the end.

“I know we were 2-0 up but I wasn’t happy with our first half performance. I made that really clear to them. I felt we turned the ball over a lot and we’re not usually like that. We are usually more secure with the ball.”

“I felt that a lot of their attacks came from us being in good positions at the top. Second half I thought we were outstanding and managed things much better.”

“The players have been outstanding and they were outstanding again today with the effort they put in. But, first half, I think we can play better. That’s me driving standards all the time. I want to see us play like that from the off, not just the second half.”

Town now travel to second-placed Wrexham on Tuesday evening with confidence high. Following that midweek game, they then play three of the bottom four in their last four matches and will be looking to secure a spot in the post-season prior to the final day.

With the likes of Grimsby Town, Colchester United and Sutton United still to play where Crawley will be expected to not show any complacency, games against Wrexham and Barrow could well be huge in their run-in to the end of the season. Having almost caught the latter up in the table, Lindsey’s side could really show some authority with a win.

It’s already been an incredibly impressive season for the Red Devils regardless and their season isn’t over just yet.

One thing is for sure, whether they go up or not, Crawley Town will be a side to watch next season and the best bit of summer business could be keeping the likes of Klaidi Lolos and Dani Orsi and building a side around those sorts of players.
