Wrexham Join Host Of Clubs Chasing 21-Goal Striker

Wrexham are among a host of English and Scottish clubs chasing Loughgall striker Benji Magee, according to a report by Team Talk.

The striker has been in excellent form for the NIFL Premiership side, finding the net on 21 occasions in all competitions.

Magee’s fine season was rewarded with his first call-up to the Northern Ireland Under 21 squad during the recent international break.

The campaign has included a winning goal against defending champions Larne and two hat-tricks, against Newry City and Ballymena United. As well as playing as the striker, Magee has shown his versatility by scoring from the right wing.

His goals have propelled his side to a seventh-place finish in the top flight having earned promotion last season. Loughgall are now preparing for their first match in the Playouts against Ballymena on Saturday.

The Belfast-born goal scorer has reportedly placed himself on the radar of League Two promotion-chasers Wrexham. Alongside Wrexham’s interest is that of Bolton Wanderers, Charlton Athletic and Oxford United of League One as well as Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.

It is believed that those interested clubs have made regular checks on the 21-year-old and see him as a player with a great deal of potential who can step up to professional football and become a star of the future.

Loughgall is aware of the interest in their prolific frontman and it is said they are unlikely to stand in his way this summer should there be a sizeable offer made.

The Irish market remains popular with sides across the Irish Sea  English clubs have long since utilised the talent available throughout Ireland and the fact they can sign experienced young players for nominal fees.

Magee’s form and an affordable transfer fee will be incredibly appealing to Wrexham and those reportedly chasing his signature. At just 21 years old, the opportunity for Magee to develop and be sold on for profit will also be in the back of the minds of his suitors.
