Ipswich Town slipped to their third defeat of the season at the weekend and are now seven points behind League One leaders Wycombe Wanderers.
The Tractor Boys have now gone seven games without a win across all competitions. With the busy Christmas period on the horizon, a return to winning ways is paramount to ease concerns their promotion bid is coming under threat.
Bristol Rovers raced out of the blocks on Saturday and were 2-0 up after twenty-three minutes. Ipswich dominated much of the rest of the game but despite a James Norwood strike just before half time; they were unable to find an equaliser, even though the Gas played the last ten minutes with ten men after Ollie Clarke received a second yellow for coming back on the pitch without the referee’s permission.
Paul Lambert was a frustrated man in his post-match interview, lamenting giving Rovers a two-goal start but his comments came in for some criticism form Town fans on social media. Many supporters have become concerned over Lambert tinkering with the starting line up and feel the failure to field a settled team is stalling momentum and endangering their season.
Some are also unhappy with the repetitive nature of his post-match comments and believe their manager should be more positive even after a defeat.
It is more than likely Lambert will sort it out, and Ipswich will return to the Championship. However, their current run of form is endearing the former Norwich boss to Ipswich fans as the following selection of responses to his comments on Twitter illustrates.
All these weeks of resting players, changing the team and now it’s realisation time that lambert is going to mess this up. This league should of been won by Feb latest

This shocking form of #ITFC seemed to start when Lambert inexplicably dropped Holy. Been a weird couple of months. Need to get back on course ASAP. Not a crisis… yet

We have a manager who likes to ‘tinker’ and it’s costing us. Anyone can pick the best team but he’s ‘fartarseing’ about with a rotation system that’s not working. As far as I’m concerned he stops it or he goes. Simple as. #itfc

You rest players in the close season, not every other week ffs

Anyone could think of and say that. Why don’t you tell us how we’re going to move on, change and improve? I’m a fan of Lambert but I’m sick of the repetitiveness

It doesn’t matter at what level you are playing at, you can’t just chuck a team together and hope for the best.

I'm not of the anti-Lambert brigade, we're experiencing a wobble – most promoting teams have them, but this sort of insight won't get PL on the MOTD sofa when he (hopefully) retires from #itfc in 20 yrs time

You need to carry out some intelligence checks on this squad and management because there are some very poor choices and decisions being made both on and off the pitch.
