‘Overrated,’ ‘I’ll give him a lift’ – These Rochdale fans react to news of rumoured departure to Peterborough

Speculation emerged over the weekend that Rochdale’s attacking midfielder Callum Camps was in talks with Peterborough over a move to their League One rivals as reported by Football Insider.

The twenty-three-year-old was a virtual ever-present for Rochdale in 2018/19, making forty-four outings and scoring three times. He was influential in the late run of form under new manager Brian Barry-Murphy that helped preserve the club’s League One status.

The former Northern Ireland international has one year left on his current deal at Spotland, and Football Insider claims Posh boss Darren Ferguson is keen to add Camps to his squad as he looks to mount a sustained challenge for League One promotion next season.

The midfielder is highly regarded in the EFL, but many Rochdale fans felt Camps was overrated when they reacted to the news on social media.

Some even felt the player was currently stagnating at Spotland after showing early career promise, and a move was best for all parties.

Here is a selection of their responses to the speculation on Twitter, with many Dale fans feeling the club should take the money for their attacking-midfielder and quickly move on.
