Our 3 Predictions For Peterborough United vs Stevenage:

  • 1st Prediction For Peterborough United vs Stevenage: Match Result – Peterborough United – 6/4
  • 2nd Prediction For Peterborough United vs Stevenage: Both Teams To Score – No – 17/20
  • 3rd Prediction For Peterborough United vs Stevenage: Harry Leonard To Score Anytime – 5/2

1st Prediction For Peterborough United vs Stevenage: Match Result – Peterborough United – 6/4

Peterborough are on home soil for the fifth time in six matches, a location they haven’t fared well at over the course of the season. Sitting 20th in the home standings, Posh had just 1 home win in 6 league games before Williams took over, since recording successive triumphs over AFC Wimbledon and Stockport County. They also defeated Cardiff City on the opening day of November, the first of 4 successive victories across all venues.

Comparatively, Stevenage had begun fairly well on their travels this term, sitting ninth in the away table with 3 wins from 7 fixtures. But after successive victories on the road at the start of the season, Boro have just 1 victory in 5, losing their last 2. That is part of their downturn in form, winless in the third tier since the opening game of October.

Given the recent fortunes of both sides, the signs are pointing in 1 direction for the winner on Tuesday night, which should be Peterborough.

2nd Prediction For Peterborough United vs Stevenage: Both Teams To Score – No – 17/20

Posh have been in excellent goalscoring form this month, netting 11 times in 4 games, including 8 in their last 2 third-tier encounters. They have been equally impressive at the other end too, keeping clean sheets in their last 3 matches at the Weston Homes Stadium. Peterborough’s Vertu Trophy encounter against Crawley Town was the only game this month in which both sides have found the net.

On the contrary, Stevenage are scoreless in their 3 November encounters, last scoring in a draw against Bradford City at the end of last month. Neither of them nor Doncaster Rovers scored in Saturday’s stalemate, while Alex Revell’s outfit lost their 2 matches beforehand 1-0. With contrasting fortunes in both boxes as of late, expect Peterborough to net while Stevenage should fail to net again.

3rd Prediction For Peterborough United vs Stevenage: Harry Leonard To Score Anytime – 5/2

Harry Leonard has been a man reborn under Williams, grabbing a goal contribution in all 4 appearances under the new boss. Following his 2 assists earlier in the campaign, he netted the only goal against Cardiff before hitting a brace in the thrashing of AFC Wimbledon. Coming off the bench against Crawley in the Vertu Trophy, Leonard grabbed the assist for the late winner before providing a pass early on for Ben Woods to score last Thursday.

Only Cardiff have conceded fewer times on the road than Stevenage, with Boro shipping 9 goals. Even during their recent struggles, they have only conceded twice in as many away fixtures, keeping a clean sheet on Saturday afternoon. But expect Leonard to be a goalscorer tonight, possibly even the only player to find the net.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Peterborough United’s season changed in an instant with the appointment of Luke Williams as manager at the end of October. While Posh may still be in the relegation zone, 3 points this evening would take them up to 18th place, only 8 points adrift of the Play-Offs. And with successive League One victories against high-flying Wimbledon and Stockport, it would be no surprise to see them shoot up the table in the coming weeks.

Posh have EFL Trophy commitments a week today against Swindon Town, following their dramatic victory in their final group stage encounter, qualifying for the knockout stages with a 94th-minute winner. Cup success also came against Cardiff in the FA Cup 1st Round, setting up a tie with league rivals Barnsley next month. Before that, they travel to the Tykes’ South Yorkshire counterparts, Doncaster Rovers, in league action on Saturday.

Stevenage have slipped off the pace at the top of League One, dropping to sixth in the standings after 4 winless games. Despite this, Boro are only 2 points adrift of top spot, with games in hand on most sides around them, but this means very little if they are unable to pick up points. Revell’s side drew with fellow out-of-form side Doncaster last weekend.

Defeats against Reading, Chesterfield (FA Cup) and Lincoln City have been disappointing, though they did hold Bradford City to a draw. By beating Crystal Palace U21’s and Bromley either side of that defeat at the Imps, Stevenage have qualified for the next round of the EFL Trophy, where they will face Walsall in 7 days’ time. Wigan Athletic are up next in League One, before playing Cardiff and Stockport in December.
