Portsmouth eye move for 19-goal MK Dons forward but Championship clubs also interested

Portsmouth have been showing an interest in MK Dons forward Chuks Aneke but so have Championship clubs Hull City, Wigan Athletic and Barnsley according to Sky Sports.

The former Arsenal youngster is out of contract at Stadium MK having arrived in 2016.

His performances in his first year saw him sign a new two-year-deal in 2017. Last season he scored nineteen goals in forty-one outings helping MK to automatic promotion from League Two. In total, he’s scored thirty-three goals in ninety-four appearances during his three-year spell.

Sky also claim that Hearts and Hibs are interested in taking the twenty-five-year-old forward north of the border.

Aneke spent time out on loan with Crewe, Stevenage and Preston before leaving the Gunners in 2014. He then spent two years in Belgium with Zulte Waregem before arriving at MK.

He has been offered a new deal to stay in Buckinghamshire, but unlike strike partner Kieran Agard he is yet to put pen to paper fueling speculation he is about to depart.

Our View

MK Dons will be hoping Aneke follows Agard’s lead and signs his new deal but the longer the wait, the more likely he will leave.

Portsmouth need firepower, and Aneke could provide it, he is big, strong and powerful with an eye for goal but with clubs in the second tier interested, they may have a battle on their hands to land him.

Aneke is unproven at Championship level, but worth a gamble, however, we are not yet convinced he is good enough to be a consistent Championship performer.

  1. All those rumours and we haven’t signed one is jacket not going to sign good players because if he leaves it to late we will lose out and have to have the ones others don’t want or end up with loans again without a doubt don’t work because if there good like Thomson was they get recalled back
