Kieran Agard has signed a new contract with MK Dons ending speculation linking him with a move away from Milton Keynes.
The 22-goal League Two promotion-winning striker was heavily linked with a potential move to League One rivals Gillingham last week, but the announcement means Agard will be leading the line for MK in the third tier next season putting an end to Gills boss Steve Evans hopes of landing the twenty-nine-year-old striker.
The club did not disclose the length of Agard’s new deal but their top goalscorer and Players’ Player of the Year from last season was delighted to be staying at Stadium MK. He told the club’s official website: ‘At the end of the season, I went home and had a rest and spoke to my family, in the end, we couldn’t wait to get back here.’
Agaard has scored forty-four times for MK since his arrival from Bristol City in 2016. He has finished top scorer in two out of his three seasons with the club.
News of his new contract sparked delight amongst MK fans on social media with some not surprisingly having fun at disappointed Gillingham fans expense.
