Lincoln City in the hunt for relegated 26-year-old winger

Lincoln City have been linked with a move for Notts County winger Enzio Boldewijn, as reported by the Nottingham Post.

The 26-year-old was part of the Magpies side that were relegated in May and his agent is now thought to be considering his client’s options.

He only joined the Magpies last summer in a move thought to be worth ‘six figures’, but saw Kevin Nolan and Harry Kewell sacked before Neal Ardley came in and launched a futile bid against the drop.

He suffered a knee injury in November that ruled him out for two months, which stunted a positive start. He recovered to make a total of 39 appearances, but couldn’t help the world’s oldest Football League club losing that proud status.

He began his career with Fc Utrecht, later joining FC Den Bosch on loan, before a permanent move to Almere City.

After a couple of decent seasons with Almere, he earned a move to these shores, joining Crawley. It believed Notts County will require a fee for the 26-year-old.

Our View

This would be a decent move for Boldewijn, but Imps fans might be underwhelmed. They shouldn’t be; he’s a tricky customer who couldn’t find consistency in a team unfit for purpose.

When he’s on the ball he likes to get at defenders with a turn of pace and a drop of the shoulder and that would excite Imps’ fans, who have become used to seeing decent wingers in action at Sincil Bank in recent years.
