Our 3 Predictions For Gillingham vs Crawley Town:

  • 1st Prediction For Gillingham vs Crawley Town: Match Result – Gillingham – 17/20
  • 2nd Prediction For Gillingham vs Crawley Town: Under 1.5 Goals – 13/5
  • 3rd Prediction For Gillingham vs Crawley Town: Both Teams To Score – No – 21/20

1st Prediction For Gillingham vs Crawley Town: Match Result – Gillingham – 17/20

Gillingham won 4 straight home league games at the start of the season, but are winless in their last 3 matches at Priestfield Stadium. The Gills were beaten in the Vertu Trophy on home soil on Tuesday evening, too, a result which knocked them out of the competition in the Group Stages. But, after 4 losses from 5 games when their unbeaten start came to a crushing end, Gareth Ainsworth’s side earned a crucial victory at Bristol Rovers.

Crawley are the worst travellers in League Two this term, losing 5 of their 7 league encounters away from West Sussex. This is one of their closest away trips of the season, hoping to replicate their solitary away victory at Harrogate Town, and not their showing at Boreham Wood in the FA Cup. With 3 successive League Two losses beforehand, the Red Devils are desperately in need of another positive result on the road.

But, the expectation is that Gillingham will end their own poor record by beating Scott Lindsey’s side on Saturday teatime.

2nd Prediction For Gillingham vs Crawley Town: Under 1.5 Goals – 13/5

Even when Gillingham were bang in form, they won 3 of their 4 games by a 1-0 scoreline. Almost half of their goal tally on home soil came in a 4-1 thrashing of Chesterfield back in August, though they have managed to net in their past 2 home matches. But only 8 teams have scored fewer goals than the Gills at home, with that hammering of the Spireites keeping them off the bottom of that particular department.

Nevertheless, Ainsworth’s side managed the same tally inside 90 minutes as Crawley have all season away from home. In 4 games this term, the Red Devils have failed to score, which is the same number of goals they have managed in their 3 remaining trips away from the Broadfield Stadium. Expect a low-scoring encounter, likely determined by a single goal.

3rd Prediction For Gillingham vs Crawley Town: Both Teams To Score – No – 21/20

Gillingham’s games have seen an increase in goals, but they have the second-best defence in League Two across all venues. Conceding 14 times in 15 games, the Gills kept a clean sheet once more last Saturday against Bristol Rovers. While on home soil, they have shipped just 5 goals, keeping 3 clean sheets in 7 matches.

Crawley have been leaking goals away from home this season, with 8 goals conceded in their past 3 defeats. Only 4 teams in the fourth tier have shipped more than the Red Devils’ 14 goals in their 7 away outings this season. In the past four meetings between the sides, all in League Two, only one side have found the scoresheet, and expect that to be the case again on Saturday.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Gillingham currently occupy the final Play-Off position on goal difference, but have a fight on their hands with 6 teams separated by just a point. The Kent outfit moved back into the top 7 places last Saturday after defeating Bristol Rovers, their first win in 6 games. That followed an unbeaten start to the campaign, setting a new club record of 21 matches without defeat, and rising to the top of League Two.

But that run came to an end at Harrogate Town, the first of 4 losses from 5 league games, along with a defeat at Colchester United in the Vertu Trophy. While the Gills were victorious in the South West last weekend, two further cup defeats at Newport County (FA Cup) and Wycombe Wanderers (EFL Trophy) saw them exit both competitions. Another home game awaits against Barnet next Saturday, before a long journey to Shropshire to face another struggling side, Shrewsbury Town, on the last weekend of November.

Crawley Town were also knocked out of the EFL Trophy on Tuesday evening with a last-minute winner for Peterborough United. And while they were well-beaten at Boreham Wood in the FA Cup, the Red Devils’ home form is looking up with successive wins. A romping win over Bristol Rovers banished their loss at Shrewsbury the week prior, before beating Fleetwood Town last Saturday.

It’s part of a common theme in recent weeks, in terms of the struggling teams in the division picking up points. With those back-to-back wins, ending a run of 4 losses in 5 after their last consecutive victories, Town are up to 19th and 2 points clear of the drop. Relegation rivals Accrington Stanley are next up before a trip to Salford City.
