Blackpool Handed Huge Boost As Loanee Delivers Jaw-Dropping Moment Of Magic

Blackpool boss Ian Evatt believes on-loan winger Scott Banks is one of several players capable of deciding matches after the St Pauli loanee produced another spectacular finish in the 2-1 loss at Tranmere Rovers.

Blackpool were beaten on Tuesday night in the EFL Trophy, but the standout moment came from Banks, who claimed his fourth goal of the season with a superb individual run and strike.

The 24-year-old joined on a season-long loan from St Pauli in September and has already delivered significant moments despite missing a month through injury.

Banks Impresses Again With Fourth Goal Of The Season

Banks’ latest effort came on the right-hand side, where he skipped past multiple challenges before driving into the box and firing into the top corner. It continues a strong start to life under Evatt, who saw the winger score the winner in his first match in charge, a 2-1 victory away at Peterborough United. The Scotsman now sits on 4 goals in 8 appearances across all competitions.

With Josh Bowler ruled out for 3 weeks due to a calf issue, Evatt confirmed that Banks could feature both in the midfield 3 and at right wing-back as squad versatility becomes crucial in the weeks ahead.

“Banksy does what Banksy does in the final third, and that is where we want to get him in this system. We did it against Peterborough, there were flashes against Scunthorpe, and tonight once he gets defenders 1 v 1 and backing up into the box, he can produce that. It is a great goal.

“That is a difference maker, and that is what they do. Josh Bowler is one, Emil Hansson is one, and if you get them in those areas, dribbling 1 v 1, then they can hurt you and cause problems. I am really pleased for Banksy.

Evatt Demands Flexibility As Blackpool Prepare For Next Test

Evatt highlighted the differing demands of upcoming fixtures and the need to adapt the squad accordingly. Blackpool shaped up differently in their recent match against Cardiff, and the head coach expects Saturday’s test to require fresh adjustments.

“This squad has lots of different skillsets, and different games require different skillsets. Saturday will be completely different to what we faced against Cardiff, so we have to pick the right skillset to face that opponent. It also gives us the chance to change in game if we need to.

“I am the head coach of this football club and I am paid to make those decisions and try to get them right.”

Banks’ form offers a welcome lift for a Blackpool side battling to find consistency in all competitions. With four goals already and growing influence under Evatt, the St Pauli loanee looks set for a prominent role while the Seasiders navigate a busy schedule.
