West Brom Break Silence: Shock Decision on Ryan Mason’s Future Revealed!

Ryan Mason is set to be given more time by the board at West Bromwich Albion amid speculation around his future.

The former Hull City defender finally made the step up as a head coach this summer at The Hawthorns, after being a prominent figure in the Tottenham Hotspur backroom over the past few years. However, it has been far from plain sailing for the 34-year-old, with calls for his removal becoming more prominent in recent weeks.

Does Mason Have Time?

Another poor result in midweek against Charlton Athletic has somewhat increased the pressure on Mason, especially since they lost the game deep into added time at the Valley. He has won 5, drawn 3, and lost 7 times since arriving at the Hawthorns after a season which saw 3 different managerial teams take charge.

A new update on whether the Baggies will act and remove their head coach has come from Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, who believes that the heirarchy in the West Midlands will not rush into making a ‘knee-jerk decision.’

Injuries could certainly play a part in where West Brom have faltered as of late, with talisman Josh Maja struggling for fitness throughout the campaign. The Nigerian forward had a stellar start to last season under previous manager Carlos Corberan,

Albion face Oxford United in their final match before the international break, which could prove a vital period for Mason to help his team to turn their fortunes around.

What Replacements Are On The Table?

Should West Bromwich Albion choose to remove Mason from his post, they will have a fair few options to pick from as many Championship clubs weigh up managerial changes. A 3rd stint for Tony Mowbray could be on the cards amid links between him and Southampton to see out the season for the Saints in the wake of Will Still’s sacking.

Russell Martin remains on the market, too, following his failed stint at Rangers. With previous success in the Championship playoffs at St. Mary’s, the former Norwich City boss could be an astute choice to get them back in the conversation for a top 6 finish.
