Millwall are set to see first-choice goalkeeper Lukas Jensen return to full fitness as the 26-year-old has returned to training.
The shot stopper has been out of action since mid-April, last playing in the Lions’ narrow win over Middlesbrough in their late charge for the playoffs. Young goalkeeper George Evans played the final four games of the season, but has since been replaced as the backup in the pecking order by Steven Benda and veteran Max Crocombe.
Jensen Back On The Grass
Videos from Millwall’s club media earlier this week revealed that the Danish international was involved in goalkeeper training alongside Evans, Benda and Joel Coleman. Goalkeeping coach Dean Thornton provided a new update on Jensen, saying: (Quotes via Southwark News):
“The big Lukas is going to be out with us today. He’s back on the grass for the first time with us. Again, part of his programme, real precaution, getting him back on the pitch, getting a bit of hand-eye coordination. It will be good to see the big man finally on the pitch with us – it will be a delight.”
Jensen joined the South London side last season from Lincoln City, and made 43 appearances for the Lions as they pushed towards a top-six finish. Elsewhere in the squad, Alex Neil could hope to see both Mihailo Ivanovic and Billy Mitchell available for their match against Swansea City.

Writers’ View
It is great news for Millwall to see Lukas Jensen return to training after his lengthy layoff with an achilles issue. While Steven Benda has had some admirable performances since arriving from Fulham, such as last weekend against Watford, Jensen was a standout star for the Lions last season and will be much more assured at the back with the Danish keeper in net. The 26-year-old is not likely to see any action for the next few games, but will surely have his place back in the starting eleven sooner rather than later.
