Peterborough United will be looking for their third successive win when they welcome high-flying Lincoln City to the Weston Homes Stadium in League One on Saturday.
Our Three Predictions For Peterborough United vs Lincoln City
- First Prediction: Lincoln City – Draw No Bet – 7/10
- Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 7/10
- Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 9/10
First Prediction For Peterborough United vs Lincoln City – Lincoln City – Draw No Bet – 7/10
Peterborough endured a dreadful start to the season, picking up just one point from their opening seven matches. This saw them drop to the foot of the table, sparking concerns that they could be facing a real fight to maintain their League One status. Darren Ferguson has sparked a mini revival over the last fortnight though. They beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 to pick up their first win of the season and followed that with an excellent 1-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle last weekend. Posh will now be looking for a third successive maximum points haul against Lincoln.
The Imps are one of the most in-form teams in the country and rose to third in the division with an excellent 3-1 win over Luton Town last weekend. It was a completely dominant performance by Michael Skubala’s team, and they evidenced that further in midweek when they pushed World Champions Chelsea all the way in the Carabao Cup third round before eventually falling to a 2-1 defeat. It’s worth noting that Lincoln demonstrated their strength in depth by rotating against the Blues, so fresh legs are likely to be reintroduced to the starting lineup. With just one league defeat to their name all season, they will be a tough nut to crack and look good value to pick up another three points. However, protecting your stake with a draw no bet option is the smart choice.
Second Prediction For Peterborough United vs Lincoln City – Both Teams To Score – 7/10
Despite their struggles near the foot of the table, Peterborough have started to find some goalscoring form. They’ve hit five goals in their last three league outings and have only failed to score once in their last five. However, Posh have just once clean sheet to their name, which came during their 1-0 win over Plymouth Argyle last weekend. Darren Ferguson’s team have also conceded in every fixture at the Weston Homes Stadium this season.
Lincoln possess an array of attacking options, so it’s no surprise to see they that only two teams have outscored them in League One this season. Michael Skubala has the likes of James Collins, Rob Street, Freddie Draper, Justin Obikwu and Ben House all vying for a spot at the top of the pitch. As a result, the Imps have failed to score just once in all competitions this season, with that coming in a 2-0 defeat at AFC Wimbledon in early August. However, they’ve kept just one clean sheet in their last five league outings.
Third Prediction For Peterborough United vs Lincoln City – Over 2.5 Goals – 9/10
On paper, this does look an odd choice for a prediction. Lincoln are ranked the third lowest in the division in this market, with just 33% of their League One fixtures seeing three goals or more. Peterborough only rank slightly better at 44%. However, of the four games that Posh have seen hit this marker, three have come in their last four outings.
The Imps follow a similar route, with a 3-1 win over Luton Town and a 2-2 draw with Wigan Athletic both coming in the last three games. They also lost 2-1 against Chelsea in midweek, whereas cup ties against Harrogate Town and Notts County have also produced goals.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head
Peterborough entered this season on the back of a poor campaign which saw them finish 18th. It appears as though they suffered a hangover during the first few weeks of the new season as they sunk to the bottom of the table. They started with four successive defeats against Cardiff City (2-1), Luton Town (2-0), Wigan Athletic (2-0) and Barnsley (1-0) before picking up their first point with a 1-1 draw against Bradford City. That reprieve proved short lived though, and Posh followed that with a 3-0 loss at Exeter City. They then lost 3-2 to Huddersfield Town, although it was a performance which offered some optimism and they only lost when former striker Joe Taylor bagged an added time winner. Darren Ferguson has since sparked somewhat of a mini revival, with back-to-back wins over Wycombe Wanderers (2-1) and Plymouth Argyle (1-0) seeing them move off the foot of the division.
In stark contrast to the hopes, Lincoln look to be genuine promotion contenders. A routine 2-0 victory over Reading kickstarted their season before their first and only loss of the campaign at AFC Wimbledon a week later (2-0). The Imps thoroughly deserved their 3-2 win over Plymouth Argyle but were made to work hard to pick up three points against Northampton Town when they edged past the Cobblers by a solitary goal. Michael Skubala’s team then showed their resilience when they battled to a 1-1 draw against Mansfield Town, despite playing most of the game with 10 men. Another 1-1 draw followed, this time at Bolton Wanderers. They were arguably lucky to escape with a 2-2 tie at home to Wigan Athletic, although enter this game on the back of successive victories over Burton Albion (1-0) and Luton Town (3-1).
The last meeting between the pair saw Lincoln dish out a huge 5-1 hammering on Peterborough at the LNER Stadium in January. The reverse fixture at the Weston Homes Stadium last season finished 1-1 a year ago. The Imps haven’t won at London Road since a 2-1 victory in 2006. Overall, Posh have the stronger record in this fixture, winning 23 of the previous 56 clashes. Lincoln have emerged victorious 15 times whilst the other 18 have ended level.
