Hull City Loanee Will Return A Different Player

Hull City loan manager Andy Dawson believes Mason Burstow will return from his loan spell as a different player after a stop-start debut season at the MKM Stadium, according to a report in the Hull Daily Mail.
Burstow is currently on loan in League One with Bolton Wanderers.

Promising Start To Temporary Switch

Mason Burstow joined Hull City from Premier League giants Chelsea in the summer of 2024 for a fee reportedly around £2 million after a loan spell in the Championship with Sunderland the season before.
The youngster managed just two league goals last season under Tim Walter and Ruben Selles and often had to play out of position as the Tigers fought for Championship survival. Burstow has joined Steven Schumacher’s Bolton and has made a wonderful start to his loan spell.
After a disappointing debut defeat to Stockport County, Burstow has since scored four goals in seven appearances, including goals to rescue points at home to Reading and away at Blackpool. The 22-year-old is gaining regular and valuable minutes at The Toughsheet Stadium, and Dawson believes he will return to Hull all the better for it.

A Different Player Will Return To The MKM

After his positive start to life in Lancashire, Hull loan manager Dawson is confident his player will return to the MKM Stadium next season a better player than the one he loaned to Bolton a month ago. He sees Burstow as one of many players in that age group who are not quite ready for Championship football and need time to progress.
“There are very, very few players who play in the Championship regularly at 19, 20, 21. Generally, they go out on loan, they progress, they have a year, they have a really good year, they might go again, they have another year. There are so many players like that.”
Dawson went on to congratulate Burstow on his performances and believes it will stand him in good stead for his future with the Tigers.
“Mason’s flourishing at the moment; he’s scored four goals in seven games, again, at a level that now he can go and flourish at. He’s confident; you can see him, he’s enjoying his football. I’m sure in a year’s time, we’re going to get a different Mason as well.”

This is a great example of the loan market working, and playing regularly in League One will boost Burstow’s confidence as well as provide him with the experience to boost his game for Hull City.
