Queens Park Rangers midfielder Elijah Dixon-Bonner has joined Morecambe on loan until January.
The 24-year-old moves to the Mazuma Mobile Stadium as the Shrimps continue to reshape their squad in the National League.
A New Challenge at Morecambe
Dixon-Bonner’s career has been an intriguing journey so far. After coming through the youth ranks at Arsenal, he switched to Liverpool in 2015 where he progressed through the academy system, captaining England at under-16 level and playing a key role in the Reds’ FA Youth Cup win over Manchester City in 2019. He made his first-team debut under Jürgen Klopp during the FA Cup replay against Shrewsbury Town in 2020 and also featured in the Carabao Cup the following season, before leaving Anfield in 2022.
The midfielder signed for QPR that October after a successful trial and has since made 34 first-team appearances for the Championship club. His development was praised by head coach Martí Cifuentes, who handed him his first league start in November 2023 against Rotherham United and later described him as a player suited to the team’s progressive style.
In March of this year, Dixon-Bonner secured a loan move to Swedish side Västerås SK, gaining valuable experience in the Superettan before returning to Loftus Road in July. With QPR strengthening their midfield options over the summer, another loan was always likely, and Morecambe have stepped in to offer him a platform.

Boost for the Shrimps
For Morecambe, the deal is a statement of intent. Having dropped into the National League, they are looking to build momentum under new manager Ashvir Singh Johal and the addition of Dixon-Bonner brings proven quality to the middle of the park. His ability to recycle possession, play progressively through midfield and add composure on the ball should make him a standout player at that level.
The Shrimps have made steady progress since the start of the campaign, but this capture underlines their ambition to push towards a return to the EFL. For Dixon-Bonner, the loan represents an opportunity to gain regular starts in a competitive environment and show that he can be a leader on the pitch.
Writer’s View
This loan looks to be a win-win scenario. QPR retain a developing talent, Morecambe get a midfielder with Championship experience, and Dixon-Bonner himself gains the minutes he needs at a crucial stage of his career. His technical pedigree, honed at Arsenal and Liverpool, should give him an edge in the National League, and if he performs to his potential he could help Morecambe in their push for promotion.
For QPR, a confident and match-ready player returning in January would be a timely boost, particularly with the Championship campaign demanding squad depth across a long season.
