Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Oxford United’s only victory this season has come in the Carabao Cup when they defeated League Two side Colchester United by a goal to nil thanks to Tyler Goodrham. In the Championship, their season has yet to get going, with three defeats from their opening four games before the international break.

The campaign began with a defeat at home to Portsmouth before suffering a late defeat on the road at Hull City, who scored a 93rd minute through Oli McBurnie after Will Lankshear and Cameron Brannagan had looked to have secured a point.

Newly promoted Birmingham City were 1-0 victors against The U’s in the next outing for Gary Rowett’s side four days before a comprehensive loss to to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup, going down 6-0 to the Premier League side.

United finally registered a point in their most recent match against Coventry City, twice coming from behind through Will Lankshear and Cameron Brannagan.

Oxford United have taken just one point so far this season and have scored four goals, with two apiece for Cameron Brannagan and WIll Lankshear. In their four matches, The U’s have conceded seven time at an average of 1.8 goals per game.

Leicester City currently occupy fourth spot in the early stages of the Championship table having won three of their opening four league matches. Their season began with a late win over troubled Sheffield Wednesday, achieved thanks to a late goal from the Belgian defender Wout Faes.

Huddersfield Town dumped The Foxes out of the Carabao Cup after a penalty shootout three days before they were beaten again, this time in league action against Preston North End. The Lancashire side took an early lead through Alfie Devine before Jeremy Monga equalised for Cifuentes’s side only for them to lose out to a late Milutin Osmajic strike with five minutes remaining.

City were back to winning ways in resolute fashion away at Charlton Athletic when an Abdul Fatawu strike was enough to secure three points, alongside a determined showing from keeper Jakub Stolarczyk. Last time out, Fatawu was again on the scoresheet and was joined by Monga as The Foxes beat Birmingham City 2-0.

Leicester have scored six goals so far this season with Abdul Fatawu grabbing two of those and Bilal El Khannouss providing two assists, although EL Khannouss is now in Germany on loan at Stuttgart. The Foxes have conceded three goals and kept two clean sheets.

Oxford United and Leicester City have not met competitively for over 30 years and have experienced drastically different fortunes since the 1993-94 campaign. Oxford have lost and regained their Football League status while Leicester City have become champions of England, won the FA Cup and experienced Champions League football.

The last time these sides met was a friendly back in 2016 when the English Champions Leicester travelled to The Kassam Stadium to prepare for their title defence. Chris Maguire gave Oxford the lead but Demarai Gray and Jeffrey Schlupp turned the game in favour of The Foxes.
