New Norwich City signing Jovon Makama is enjoying life at Carrow Road following his £1.2 million move from League One side Lincoln City, reports The Pink Un.
The 21-year-old has tasted action in the Championship and Carabao Cup since joining the Canaries.
Makama Getting Better Every Day
This progress comes after the deal for Makama’s signature was completed just five days before the start of the Championship season, which the young forward admits made for a hectic start.

“It’s been very hectic, but I’ve enjoyed every second.”
Makama made his Norwich debut with a brief run-out against Millwall in the opening round of Championship matches and has since gained more minutes in the Canaries’ two Carabao Cup fixtures against Watford and Southampton.
With his game time likely to grow, the former Derby County youth player has complimented his new teammates for helping him to improve as a footballer.
“Since I’ve been here, everyone’s been really welcoming and the lads are all good lads. The staff, as well, they’ve worked with me really well since I’ve been here. They’re helping me get better every day, and I’ve really enjoyed it.”
Ready To Put The Work In
Jovon Makama enjoyed the best season of his career during the 2024-25 campaign, providing seven goals and six assists in 38 League One outings for The Imps as the Lincolnshire side achieved a top-half finish in the third tier.
That form and the player’s potential convinced Norwich to make their move, but it hasn’t been easy for the striker, and he isn’t going to stop doing what has gotten him to this point.
“Last season I had a very good season, and this season I’m now here, so it shows a lot. It’s come from a lot of hard work, and the hard work doesn’t stop here. I’m ready to put it in.”
The striker is aware of the big step up from mid-table League One to a Championship side with designs on a playoff push, but he feels it was the right time in his career to make that move.
“It’s very big. I’ve said it before in an interview – I think it was the perfect time for a step up and a new challenge, and every day it’s just focusing on bettering myself. It’s a new challenge that I’m willing to put myself out there for.”
Writer’s View
Jovon Makama is definitely a player with potential who will continue to improve as he learns from the better players around him, the likes of United States international striker Josh Sargent. His role and time in the first time will increase as the season progresses, and, if Norwich’s poor start continues, he may find more minutes on the pitch sooner than he would have anticipated.
