Norwich City Aiming To Tie Up Deal For 14 Goal Midfielder

Liam Manning’s summer rebuild at Norwich City could yet include a marquee attacking addition, with reports emerging that the club are in talks to sign Ukrainian midfielder Yegor Tverdokhlib.

The 24-year-old scored 14 goals and contributed two assists in just 24 Ukrainian Premier Liga matches last season for Kryvbas, finishing second in the division’s scoring charts.

Interest From Across Europe

German outfit Augsburg and Turkish side Eyupspor are also monitoring the player, but Norwich and Championship rivals Leicester City are said to be leading the chase. According to Football Insider, the midfielder is expected to be available at a relatively modest fee, making him one of the more attainable high-output playmakers in the European market this window.

Tverdokhlib has already registered one assist in his first two games this season and played a key role in Kryvbas securing a fifth-place finish in 2024/25. Despite his strong form, he has remained under the radar until now, having spent his entire professional career in Ukraine.

Norwich Need Attacking Recruits

This potential addition would significantly bolster Norwich’s attacking midfield options, particularly after the departure of Borja Sainz to Porto and the expected exit of striker Josh Sargent. Manning has brought in defensive reinforcements this summer, but his forward line is still being reshaped, with Lincoln City’s Jovon Makama one incomer. Tverdokhlib’s creativity and finishing could address that imbalance.

Manning, who took over from Johannes Hoff Thorup in the summer, has overseen a busy window with arrivals such as Jakov Medic and Harry Darling at the back. However, with midfield depth under scrutiny and no direct replacement yet for Sainz, a move for Tverdokhlib would align with Norwich’s objective of returning to the Championship play-off places.

Writer’s View

Norwich City’s reported pursuit of Yegor Tverdokhlib signals a clear intent to add quality and goals from midfield — something they have arguably lacked since the days of Emi Buendía. The Ukrainian’s outstanding strike rate and ability to influence games in the final third could make him a transformative signing at this level.

His relatively low cost, combined with a proven track record in a top-flight league, makes him an ideal fit for a club looking to rebuild intelligently under Liam Manning. Whether the Canaries can beat out competition from Leicester and overseas remains to be seen, but if they land Tverdokhlib, it could prove one of the most astute moves of their summer.
